I started smoking Spice “gold” back in 2010 when it first started being sold at headshops. People called it ‘legal weed’ and said it was basically the same thing as marijuana; at the time I wanted to join the army, and they drug tested- so I told myself it was better to smoke Spice then to smoke weed, so I could still get high and not get caught.
My friends and I started smoking after school just about every day. I eventually started smoking all the time and was going through an eighth every two days at the height of my use. I smoked nonstop throughout a year.
Instead of joining the army as I planned, I dropped out of high school and started working at a corner store.
One day, I woke up on the floor of my room to the sound of my stepmom yelling at me trying to wake me up. Only seconds after I opened my eyes, completely confused, I started throwing up; I threw up non-stop for three days and had the worst headache of my life. Turned out, I had the first of many seizures to come.
It took me about two more seizures to realize that spice had made the seizures occur and that it was actually seizures I was having.
I finally decided to quit and flushed my bag down the toilet in early 2012.
However, that did not stop the seizures. I continued to have seizures well after stopping spice. They also rose in frequency, leading to their crescendo in 2016. When I totaled my car after having a seizure while driving; fractured my spine in two spots and several other bones. I could barely move for over 2 months and was out of work for almost 8 months.
I have had well over 200+ seizures since I started using Spice; the seizures have wholly eroded away at my life, affecting my love life, my career, and my social skills. They have ruined me and turned me to a shell of the person I once was. I attribute the cause of the seizures entirely to synthetic cannabinoids marketed under names like K2 and Spice.
If anyone reads this small story, know that trying this drug was the biggest mistake of my life. Please quit Spice now, and do everything you can to keep others from working it or continuing its use.
