The Sheriff’s Department in Lake County, Florida, served a search warrant to find the illegal drug called “Spice” on Tuesday. The search was conducted at the F&M Foodmart located at 16927 Lakeside Avenue in Montverde, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
Police seized more than 100 packages of synthetic marijuana, some glass pipes and digital scales. MD Zaberul Hasan, a 29-year-old resident of Ocoee was arrested and charged with the possession and sale of the drug, also known as “Herbal Incense“, within 1,000 feet of a school.
The bust came after a three-month investigation in which undercover detectives bought Spice from the store. The packages were sent to a Florida Department of Law Enforcement lab and tested for illegal chemicals. The tests found a banned synthetic cannabinoid known as XLR-11.
Synthetic marijuana is illegal in Florida but convenience stores are still trying to profit off the drug which causes seizures and even death in some cases.
While this may only be 1 arrest, hopefully, it will deter other stores from selling the poison to our kids.
